What wine sold
Bottles sold, counted from the stock numbers sellers show on their own sites. Three places: the UK's biggest online wine seller, a national supermarket's wine shop and 22 independent merchants. A saved week.
A national supermarket's wine shop sold nearly 1,500 bottles of Crémant, Cava and English sparkling, up from 44 the week before. Its best-selling wine overall was Prince Alexandre Crémant de Loire at £15.50, with over 600 bottles.
Sauvignon Blanc was the independents' biggest style with over 500 bottles, against 3 the previous seven days. Most went at £10–15, and Sauvignon Blanc, Stoneburn at £15.00 and Sauvignon Blanc, Hunter’s at £18.00 were near the top.
Provence Rosé, Chateau Routas at £13.20 sold nearly 200 bottles across the independents, and most of their rosé went at £10–15. A national supermarket's wine shop sold over 2,000 bottles of rosé, up from over 300 the week before.
The independents sold over 300 bottles of Malbec across 26 wines, mostly at £10–15, with Sottano Malbec at £14.50 leading. Malbec does not appear among the top styles at the biggest online seller or a national supermarket's wine shop.
What to do with it
- Put a Crémant priced £15–20 on the counter or front table this week, next to your Champagne, for people who want bubbles for less.
- Keep a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc at £10–15 at eye level, with one step-up bottle at £15–20 beside it.
- Chill a Provence rosé priced £10–15 and put it in the fridge nearest the door.
- Give Malbec its own shelf space at £10–15, since the big sellers are not pushing it and your customers are buying it.

Every Monday: what sold near each of your shops and at merchants like you, which of your bottles answers it, and the email, posts and ad ready. You answer yes or not this time. Your first brief is free. See how the brief works
Many wine sellers show how many bottles they have left. We read those public numbers several times a day and add up every fall between two reads. Rises are restocks and are ignored. A single fall that is too big to be shoppers (a stock move, a trade order or a site reset) is left out: 24 this time.
The biggest online seller updates its stock overnight, and much of what leaves goes out in mixed cases to its club members. The supermarket wine shop is read twice a day. The 22 independents are shops across the UK whose sites show stock counts. Styles come from each seller's own grape and colour labels. Prices are each seller's shelf price.
We read only public pages, follow each site's robots.txt and never log in. Sellers are not named. Ziild is not affiliated with any of them.
