Jasper and Copy.ai alternatives for food and drink brands

Every AI writing tool writes. None of them publishes, checks your claims or knows what's in stock. Here's what each one is today, what it costs, and when writing isn't actually your problem.

Short answer

For cheap, flexible drafting: ChatGPT or Claude (both about $20 a month) or Gemini if you already use Google Workspace. For on-brand copy at volume: Jasper. For testing ad copy: Anyword.

Copy.ai, Writesonic and Writer are no longer copywriting tools: they've moved to sales workflows, AI-search tracking and enterprise agents. If your problem is that nothing gets published, not that nothing gets written, look at Ziild CMO (we make it).

Disclosure: We make Ziild CMO, and it's on this list. Ziild CMO is built on Claude, which is also on this list; we're a customer of Anthropic, not a partner. Where a writing tool is all you need, we say so. All prices come from each vendor's own website.

What changed in AI writing tools

In 2023 these were all copywriting tools. In 2026 the general assistants (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) write as well as the specialists for about $20 a month, and several specialists have moved on:

How we chose

Questions people ask

What is the best alternative to Jasper?

For most small food and drink teams: ChatGPT or Claude at about $20 a month writes as well, if you give it your brand rules. Keep Jasper if you need the same brand voice enforced across a big team.

Is Copy.ai still a copywriting tool?

No. Copy.ai now calls itself a GTM AI platform for sales and marketing workflows. It keeps a $24-a-month chat plan, but the product is built for B2B pipeline work.

Can AI writing tools check food and alcohol claims?

None of the writing tools on this list advertises checking UK food claims, HFSS rules or the alcohol codes (CAP Code, Portman Group). You have to check them yourself. Ziild CMO applies those rules in code before anything can be sent.

ChatGPT or Claude for marketing copy?

Both cost about $20 a month and both write well. ChatGPT has custom GPTs; Claude is strong on long documents and has skills and connectors. Neither publishes or knows your sales.

Do I need a writing tool at all?

Only if writing is the bottleneck. For most small food and drink brands the bottleneck is publishing every day across channels and knowing what sold. That's a department's job, not a writing tool's.
